How many employees does a US company have — answered as a list of dated public evidence, one entry per source, never a blended estimate. Sources: PPP loan applications (jobs_reported, 2020-21), Form 5500 benefit-plan participant counts (latest plan year), SEC 10-K cover-page employee counts (XBRL dei:EntityNumberOfEmployees, when the filer tags it), H-1B LCA filing volume (a hiring signal, not a headcount), and WARN layoff notices (workers affected, not a headcount). Each entry carries its value, date, source, method and the name it matched. A range is given only when two or more headcount-type sources fall within 25% of each other. Works for private companies (PPP, Form 5500) and public ones (add the ticker for the SEC figure).
Parameters
| Name | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
name | string | yes | Company legal name, e.g. “Delta Air Lines” or “Sumter Coatings”. Suffixes like Inc/LLC are ignored when matching. |
state | string | no | Optional 2-letter state code to narrow PPP, Form 5500 and WARN matches, e.g. “SC”. |
ticker | string | no | Optional stock ticker, e.g. “DAL”. Without it the SEC figure is used only when the name matches a listed company exactly. |
